Electric cars planned in western Sweden

Innovatum in Trollhättan receives funding almost 8352000 Euro (87 000 000 SEK) to support for the electric car project Ze Saab 9-3. In this project they priority security and development of batteries.
The goal is to quickly produce a test fleet of over 100 electric vehicles.
The project involves, among other battery manufacturer Boston Power Inc and the Swedish start-up company Electroengine

Environmental case for EVs during Climate Summit in Copenhagen

The politicians of the climate summit have been criticized for using 140 private planes and 1200 limos during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. There are unfortunately not many electric cars or hybrid among that number.

But any solution to the climate crisis must involve active participation from the cities and the politicians. Half the world's population is today living in cities and the number is rapidly growing. Cities of the world are now responsible for

Research with nanotechnology,paper and battery

An article in Sciencenews describes that scientists in Stanford have made batteries and supercapacitors with ordinary office paper and some carbon and silver nanomaterials. The paper-based devices show excellent performance largely due to paper’s porous nature: at the nano scale, paper is a tangled matrix of fibers.  Read more »

Audi receives "Bad Company Award"

Consumers International gives Audi "Bad Company Award" for suggesting its diesel cars are clean and green. The organisation highlight irresponsible behaviour and consist of 220 member organisations in 115 countries.  It is a bit ironic since Audi A3 TDI  just had had been named green car of the year 2010 announced by the Green Car Journal.

Chinese company invest in battery filling stations

China National Offshore Oil envisions a national network of stations where motorists can swap discharged EV batteries for full charged packs.  "We can't build" electric cars, "but we can supply the energy," the oil company parent's strategy director told Wall Street Journal.

The company also invested 5 billion yuan ($732 million) in the lithium battery company Tianjin Lishen Battery Joint-Stock Co and they have a joint venture with Coda Automotive.

Peking to Paris - the greatest green race?

A new Peking to Paris has been set up for 2010. The start will be in Peking (Beijing) on September 10th 2010, and the finish in Paris will be on October 16th.

The original Peking to Paris was in 1907. Since then there have been two others organized as endurance drives, not races. One was in 1997, the other was in 2007.
