EU SARTRE Project targets autonomous road trains

EU is helping to fund the new project, named Sartre  (Safe Road Trains for the Environment).The aim with the project is to develop and test technology for vehicles that can drive themselves in long road trains on motorways. The technology use existing ADAS sensor and systems to allow vehicles to follow a lead vehicle autonomously. Energy savings are calculated around 20%.

 

LPG - Liquefied petroleum gas

There is a growth in the use of LPG. LPG - Liquefied petroleum gas, also referred to as auto gas. LPG is a mixture of hydrocarbon gases. There are no specification for LPG so propane and butane are mixed in different ratios in different countries. This year, Valmet Automotive will start the manufacturing of two electric vehicles in Uusikaupunki, Finland. The first electric Garia golf cars have already been delivered to the Danish Garia A/S, and the first plug-in Fisker Karma hybrid cars recharged from the grid will be delivered to the American Fisker Automotive towards the end of the year. Read more »

Solar powered car, 'Tokai Challenger' from Japan's Tokai University won the ninth edition of the World Solar Challenge 2009 (Global Green Challenge) in one of the world´s largest solar car races from Darwin to Adelaide (3021 km) with only one goal: crossing Australia as fast as possible without using any other type of energy than solar.
