ABB and GM will start research cooperation in electric car batteries

According to a pressrelease from ABB  the research project will examine how used batteries from electric cars can be used as energy storage devices.

The project will investigate the potential of re-using lithium batteries from GM's Chevy Volt electric vehicle for cost-effective energy storage, which in turn contributes to improving the efficiency of electrical systems as they evolve into smart grids.

Chevrolet Volt electric car first shown up at  North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in 2007 then as a concept car. It is a plug-in hybrid car from General Motors.

Smaller electric cars reigns at the North American International Autoshow

The North American International Autoshow in Detroit opens up January 11 to 24th 2010. At least 30 new vehicles are scheduled to be revealed for the first time this week and a number of electric-powered vehicles are set to debut at the North American International Auto show.
Ford won the award for the best green city car for the the Fusion Hybrid.

Trends in the motorshow
Salon trend is smaller cars and focus on power and hybrids.
