Japan’s Tokai Challenger wins 2009 world solar car race

Solar powered car, 'Tokai Challenger' from Japan's Tokai University won the ninth edition of the World Solar Challenge 2009 (Global Green Challenge) in one of the world´s largest solar car races from Darwin to Adelaide (3021 km) with only one goal: crossing Australia as fast as possible without using any other type of energy than solar.

The Global Green Challenge - an evolution of the acclaimed World Solar Challenge - is the world's leading, cross-continental showcase of the latest advances in hybrid, electric, solar, low emission, and alternative energy vehicles. It began as one man's adventure across Australia in a homemade solarcar more than a quarter of a century ago.

Peugeot BB1 E-concept Bébé

Peugeot BB1 E-concept Bébé 1 is a really tiny city car only 2.5 meters long, but can accommodate four adults and a bit of baggage. Unconventional design inspired by two wheel vehicles and flexible interior. Solar panels power the  air condition.

The engine is developed together with Michelin and the motors are IN the four wheels, and gives 20 hp. Top speed 120 km/h. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009.
