The second-generation RAV4 EV demonstration vehicle represents an important milestone in Toyota’s unique collaboration project with Tesla. RAV4 EV has electric car technology, battery and electric motor systems, from Tesla. One demo car can be seen at the Los Angeles Auto Show (Laas) and they have said that there are 35 prototypes but still there need to take final decisions on batteries. Toyota's goal is to ship the model during 2012.
The car has a range of approx. 160 km
RAV4 EV weighs about 100 kilograms more than the regular version.

Toyota begins this week to sell a sound system that will make electric cars less silent since quiet cars are a traffic hazard. Toyota are launching a noise device for the Prius to create a whirring sound when the Prius runs just on the electric motor.

The North American International Autoshow in Detroit opens up January 11 to 24th 2010. At least 30 new vehicles are scheduled to be revealed for the first time this week and a number of electric-powered vehicles are set to debut at the North American International Auto show.
Ford won the award for the best green city car for the the Fusion Hybrid.

Salon trend is smaller cars and focus on power and hybrids.

Toyota will launch a Prius combi or a SUV 2010 according to the big Japanese newpaper Yomiuri. The car manufacturer presented the Hybrid X concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2007.

Toyota FT-86 build a sportscar in cooperation with Subaru.
The FT-86 Concept is a performance-oriented small car.The FT-86 is engineered and styled and designed by Toyota, but it uses a 2.0 litre Subaru boxer engine. The engine is Subaru horizontally-opposed engine technology for a lower center of gravity and will be built by Subaru. Toyota is a minority shareholder (17% of Subaru).

The single largest component cost with an electric car is the battery.
Unfortunately batteries are still too poor, and above all too expensive. The goal is to have a light, secure and less costly batteries.

Marketed by Lexus as the new flagship supercar in the F Performance lineup is a concept car and racing prototype. The Lexus LFA began as a research-and-development project in 2000, emerged as a concept car in 2005, the debut was in Tokyo motor show 2009 and the car will go into production in 2010.
