Electric taxi prototype from Volkswagen

It is still in the conceptual stage, but Volkswagen's electric taxi provides a hint about how the iconic London Taxis can look in the future. The company has already unveiled electric Milano Taxi concept in Hanover.

Volkswagen has developed a version of the black taxis in London - Volkswagen’s EV Taxi Concept and the car use the e-motion concept. Klaus Bischoff, head of design at Volkswagen stands behind the design.

Smaller electric cars reigns at the North American International Autoshow

The North American International Autoshow in Detroit opens up January 11 to 24th 2010. At least 30 new vehicles are scheduled to be revealed for the first time this week and a number of electric-powered vehicles are set to debut at the North American International Auto show.
Ford won the award for the best green city car for the the Fusion Hybrid.

Trends in the motorshow
Salon trend is smaller cars and focus on power and hybrids.

VW E-UP!

The electric VW Up to start construction until 2013 with an electric motor and 240 kg batteries under the floor. Top speed is 135 km / h and a maximum range 130 km.  The all-electric vehicle was spotlighted at the VW stage during the Frankfurt Motor Show. It features a 3+1 setup that allows the folding of most seats for more cargo space.

E-UP uses an electric motor that provides a continuous 40 kilowatt output, with a maximum burst of 60 kW. VW expects to build 500-1 000 cars per year, the price around 250 000 SEK.
